Growing up in Connecticut, my father was into British sports cars. In my youth I helped him work on several Jaguar XK120, 3.8S Salon, Austin Healey 3000 MKII, and his pride and joy a 1964 Morgan Plus 4. We completed ground up restoration when I was 18 and took first place at the national Morgan show. This was also the car I learned how to drive on. My first car was a 1979 MG Midget closely followed by an 1980 Triumph Spitfire and 64 Mini Cooper S.
My love for Land Rovers started during my first job out of college when I came to the realization that sports car don’t fair well in New England winters. I started with a 1973 Series 3. I then moved onto a 1969 Series 2A. At this point I wanted to use my Land Rover as a daily driver. I sold all the sports cars and the Land Rover to have funds. I then took a 1969 Series 2A bulkhead and scavenged parts to build an 88 coil-over hybrid. It used Range Rover Classic suspension and a 2.5 motor with 40 over pistons and a 2.5 cam. She was a wonderful truck but not long after that I fell in love with the 300 TDI diesel motor. I sold the Series truck and build another hybrid truck from parts using a Defender 90 chassis and 2A dash. After driving this for several years, I identified the changes I wanted to make. I sold that truck and built my current Land Rover. As before, I used an NAS Defender 90 chassis and Series 2A bulkhead. Did extensive modification using a Safety Devices Competition roll cage, a full 3” RTE suspension and updated the 300 TDI to a 2.8 300 TDI power stroke from M&D engineering. I went overboard a bit and hot dipped galvanized every steel part on the truck short of the suspension.
She is my current pride and joy.
