ANARC Stewards Training

ANARC Stewards Virtual Learning Series

we will be offering this Online Video Series to all of our member clubs this Winter. We anticipate rolling those out in January 2027.

The ANARC Stewards Virtual Training Series is a leadership and stewardship development

initiative designed to strengthen member clubs by building a shared foundation for safe,

ethical, and environmentally responsible off-road leadership. Launching in 2027, the series

blends virtual self-paced learning with live interactive webinars to build both competence

and community across clubs.

the innovative off-road skills training event, returns for 2026. Stewards Training provides a framework of core course experiences that are designed to maximize a participant’s experiential learning that can be taken back to the clubs they represent. The intent is that the Stewards will assume the role of educator and leader in the principles learned during the Stewards Training.

What is an ANARC Steward?

  • Anyone can be a Steward, however one of the core guiding principles is that it is someone who can be viewed as the future of your individual club. This implies that the participant is an active, consistent attender and contributor to the club’s activities. The participant ideally is willing to take on roles of leadership and educator; this means they display an interest and aptitude for those roles as well as a firm belief in safe, responsible use of vehicles and the environment.

  • Training Selection and Key Selection Characteristics. We encourage all ANARC member clubs to send us their best.

  • Peer to Peer Leadership to develop the club leader.  ANARC Stewards is a comprehensive, peer-leader development program, equipping club representatives with practical off-road, leadership, medical, and communication skills. Stewards return to their local communities empowered to promote safe and responsible Land Rover events while fostering fellowship and stewardship.

  • To deliver a repeatable, high-impact virtual training series that develops Stewards through

ANARC’s 5 Steward Principles (“Know Before You Go”), trail leadership and communication

skills, adult-learning and train-the-trainer methods, and structured off-road recovery

decision-making—so clubs can grow leaders and standardize best practices without losing

    their unique culture.

Instructors:

Professional instructors will be on-hand to conduct four intensive training sessions. Participants will be strategically divided into four groups, balancing skill sets and vehicle types.

8.1 Module 1 — Stewardship Foundations (ANARC 5 Principles)

Use these points in club briefings and posts:

 The 5 Principles create a simple, repeatable “Know Before You Go” decision framework.

 Clubs keep their identity; the Principles provide shared language for safer decisions.

 Preparedness and ethical choices reduce preventable incidents and trail impacts.

8.2 Module 2 — Leadership & Communication

 Good trail leadership is clarity and calm under pressure—more than driving skill.

 Briefings, radio discipline, and role clarity reduce risk and confusion.

 Stewards lead by example and create inclusive, respectful group culture.

8.3 Module 3 — Adult Learning & Instruction (Train-the-trainer)

 Stewards multiply capability when they can teach and mentor—not just perform.

 Adults learn best when content is relevant and problem-centered; the program is

practical.

 Teach-back builds confidence and sustains knowledge within clubs year over year.
